It seems as if the paint? I heard someone call them bezels? Meaning, if I were to accidentally scratch that part, it would leave a very obvious surface mark. I was going to just scrape it all off but that would take way too much time unless someone knows an easier way other than scraping it off with a flathead screwdriver as my brother suggested..

I already know the piece under the shift knob pops right off and I can just lift it up. My boyfriend says I would have to disconnect my radio in order to replace the plastic piece?

I no longer have the stock radio in my car, but now I have a Kenwood radio Similar to this one: Honestly this isn't a huge issue to the average person probably but I plan to keep the car as long as I can well beyond my college years since it only has 86K miles on it.

I want to take care of it as best as I can. Does anyone know how to remove these pieces? Do I have to take out the whole dash? Will I have to disconnect my radio?

Thank you for the help! Unfortunately you'll need to remove most of the dash panels yes. No you will not have to disconnect your radio. Just remove the center console, shifter trim piece, both thigh panels, and probably the knee panel under the steering wheel. The dash bezel you want to remove should pull straight out. It's clipped in but there are screwed holding it down that you must unfasten first.

If you don't get all the screws out and you pull on it with enough force you could break it. Recommend getting a nylon trim panel removal tool. It makes getting behind plastic panels without marring them possible. Use a screwdriver if you really need to but you'll leave marks on the pieces that way.
