Threaded Mode Linear Mode. So it sounds like the left rear wheelbearing is shot, making the whoop-whoop noise, i thought it was the tires, but i fitted new tires and the noise is still there.

I starts quiet, then noisy after km driving, and if i sway the rear the noise goes away and back as the load on the wheel changes. Now for the job tomorrow, bought a new bearing, boy this is going to be a lot of fun. I have changed wheelbearings before not on this car , and i see this is a pressfit bearing, outch. I see on the forums people do it on the car, now that i havn't done before on a pressfit bearing, but will give it a go. Here is what i will be doing: Remove caliper and most importantly the abs sensor Now the hub, hopefully a bearing puller will work from the rear, pushing it out.

The bearing is next, this is going to be fun. If i can't get it out on the car i will remove the carrier and use a press, this is pretty straight forward then. There is a circlip retaining the bearing. Fitting a new bearing is a reversal of the above, with copper slip grease. Changing a pressfit bearing on the car is not for the feint hearted. I started 11am this morning, lifted the car and felt the left rear suspect, it felt and sounded ok, so i lifted the right rear, it did sound more noisy than the left, so i think the sound could have echoed in the back.

Took off the wheel, fitted a stand under the rear crossmember. The nut on the driveshaft came off easy, swambo holding the brakes. Next was the caliper and disc, easy. The abs sensor came out easy.

Oops, the driveshaft needs to be removed on the diff, back went the disc, handbrake was sufficient. Then the drive shaft wouldn't pull out the hub, i actually broke my bearing puller on it, i did use a lot of force and penetrating spray. I had to hit it to come out, and it looked ok, not rusted or anything, now it doesn't want to go back in, it is not flaired.

The E90 suspension setup is very different from my e46's, however here is what I did and might help: I removed the entire trailing arm and took it to a shop to have the bearing properly pressed. Indeed the drive shaft has to be hammered pretty hard to get it out.

BMW e46 i, sport ex.: BMW e90 i, individual. Success, changed the bearing yesterday after work, finished I made pullers, the bearing came out without any hassles, and the new one went in easy, lots of copperslip grease. The only part that gave me hassles was the driveshaft, it was by far the most time consuming part of the whole process.

Took it for a test drive after work today, i can't stop smiling. Hi guys I am hearing a sound which sounds very much like the wheel bearing is going, What I cant figure is which wheel, How can I know for sure, Whats the price of bearings, e90, How much time do I have, I use the car daily, and really stuck for cash now, Pls guys your feedback will be appreciated.

Nobody replied, Anyway car spent the day at Ralf, although bearing seems fine we are changing both rear bearings tomorrow, we ruled out tyre wear as we swapped rear to front and noise still sounded from rear, but very hard to say for sure, I just finish checking the brake shoes, thought it might be that, Did some reading, and if noise doesnt go away it says might be diff related, some fixed it by draining and filling new oil, I pray the noise goes away tomorrow after ralf does the bearings,.
